Try Something New This Fall: Learn to Curl in Esquimalt!

Ever wanted to try curling? Now’s your chance! Esquimalt Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Esquimalt Curling Club, is launching a Learn to Curl program this fall - perfect for adults who are curious about the sport but don’t know where to start.

Running Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the program kicks off in October and continues through to the end of December at the Archie Browning Sports Centre - Curling Arena.

Designed specifically for adult beginners, the program offers a fun and supportive environment to learn the fundamentals of curling. Participants will get hands-on instruction in:

  • Delivering a rock
  • Sweeping techniques
  • Game strategy
  • Playing various positions
  • Understanding the rules

Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, some friendly competition, or just want to get active in a social setting, curling is a fantastic way to stay engaged through the fall.

"Curling is a truly Canadian sport that brings people together. We’re excited to welcome new players to the ice and show them just how fun and accessible the game can be," says a representative from the Esquimalt Curling Club.

No experience is necessary. Just bring a helmet (bike/hockey etc), clean running shoes, warm, comfortable clothing and a sense of adventure! All other equipment will be provided.

Don’t miss out - come curl with us!

For more information or to register, visit the Esquimalt Parks & Recreation website.

Curl for the Cure Open Bonspiel

This is the inaugural event for fundraising at Esquimalt Curling Club to support the advancement in research for the BC Cancer Foundation. Though many organizations and events are already helping to raise fund for cancer research, ECC is joining in the effort! Much work still has to be done to find a way to cure many suffering from this illness, so every effort is needed to raise as much money as possible to facilitate this goal. It is the hope that all curlers at ECC will see the need and do their part by registering for the event.

See details on the Event Page

Help is very much needed to organize various aspects of this bonspiel prior to and throughout the weekend, if you can help, please email chiapm@shaw.ca.

Help needed for:

  • a draw master
  • 50/50 ticket sellers
  • looking after raffle baskets and selling raffle tickets
  • looking after the banquet

Thanks, and see you on the ice!
